Steps To Make Coffee Using French Press Coffee Maker

Coffee made using the French Press tastes a lot earthy and dark as it is the purest flavor conversion using the most simple mechanism. Using a French Press means making your own coffee the way you want it to be.

Other auto-brewer may brew coffee in no time, but using a French Press offers an intense cup of coffee.

So, let’s see how you use this press and make a mesmerizing cup of coffee.

Did you know?

  • You can use a French Press to make a delicious cup of tea as well!

1. Get the right beans

Choosing the right beans is the most vital part of making your own coffee. This depends on the flavor that you seek and the intensity that you desire.

The roast, the freshness and the texture after the ground mean a lot when it comes to self-made coffee. So, choosing the suitable beans is the most important as compared to other things.

2. Get your French press

A French Press is basically a large pot made to be a glass cylinder. With the glass pot, it even has a lid, a plunger, and a flat filter. The pot is covered by the lid and this lid consists of a plunger with a flat filter that remains inside the pot.

This is the basic arrangement of a French Press.

Now you can get the French Press of any size according to your brewing requirement.

3. Get a grinder

The next important thing to do is to get a good grinder to grind the coffee beans. It should be a better one because it won’t matter if you buy the costliest beans and grind them in a not-so-good grinder.

And the reason for this is the consistency of the ground. If you don’t grind the coffee beans perfectly and with a perfect coarse, it won’t make any difference which beans you have brought.

4. Grind the beans

To get the best of the intensity and flavor it is very important that you have a fresh coffee ground.

So after getting the perfect beans and grinder, you have to ground the beans the way you want them to be. But the recommended one for the best flavor coffee from your Fench Press is to have a coarse ground of coffee.

5. Get the other stuff

For the dark coffee, you won’t need anything but some hot water. But if you are not a black coffee lover then you need to add some sweetener such as sugar or some caramel or honey. And some milk or cream.

So, this is what you need before you start brewing the coffee. However, if you need to add some sugar or honey then you can add some before or after brewing. Preheat some water to a higher temperature as you will need that ahead.

6. Preheat the French press

The French Press needs to be preheated before the use. This is because if you suddenly insert very hot water for brewing, there are chances of the glass pot to crack.

And that is what you may not want to. So adding some warm water, warm enough that you can hold the pot. This is the way to preheat the pot.

7. Add the coffee ground

To add the coffee ground into the French Press you need to remove the lid from the pot. The removal of the lid will also remove the filter and the plunger as well. Now, you need to add some coffee in the pot and this way it will be at the bottom of the pot and the filter will be above it.

8. Add some water

Note: The water you use here should be boiling.

Now you need to add some hot water that you prepared earlier. To have the darker and deeper flavor of the coffee you need to add less amount of water. But if you want a lighter one, add some more. But the best to have is add a little less than 1 cup of water for 1 cup of coffee.

After adding the water stir, the coffee ground, and water so that there is an even and proper extraction of the coffee. And the whole ground gets perfectly and equally filter.

9. Have some patience

Let the hot water and the coffee ground inside the pot be there for some time. This is to make the coffee and water mix perfectly well and have a great extraction. If you desire to have a great cup of coffee then you will have to have some patience.

10. Press the Plunger

Further, you need to place the plunger in the place inside the glass pot. Once placed properly you have to press the plunger and so the filter will also be pressed. This is required to make the coffee filter proper and get the coffee of the best quality.

By doing this, the coffee grounds are separated from the coffee extract and we get the perfect essence of coffee.

11. Enjoy the coffee

Pour the coffee extract from the pot into the cup and you get the best cup of coffee ready for you to enjoy!
