Irish Coffee is one of the most loved coffee, and it is quite popular among all Coffee-Whiskey lovers. Talking about the Irish Coffee, this is a cocktail coffee, and it is completely different than the usual coffee drinks. Cocktail coffee simply means that whiskey added with coffee.
What is Irish Coffee
This type of coffee is prepared using coffee, Irish Whiskey, and sugar. And after the coffee is completely prepared, and freshly whipped cream is placed on the top of the coffee!
Here the cream is used in the form of garnish, and the drink is simply topped with the cream.
You will find some recipes where the brown sugar is used instead of the normal sugar. The original recipe of the coffee makes use of cream which is not whipped. Still, these days Irish coffee is served with whipped cream on it.
Checking the history of the Irish Coffee origin, in the year 1940 Joe Sheridan, head chef of Foynes served the coffee mixed with whiskey for welcoming the passengers who arrived on a Pan Am flying boat.
When people asked him about the drink which is being served, Sheridan replied that it is the Irish Coffee.
For the preparation part, take a mug and pour in some black coffee into it. Add whiskey into it, and then add a minimum of one level of a teaspoon of sugar. Mix it well, and keep stirring the mixture till you find one single solution.
One point to note here, sugar is necessary for the process since this lets the liquid cream to float over the drink.
Some of the chefs will make use of the back of the spoon placed just above the glass, place the cream on it, and then it is slowly lifted upwards. This Irish Coffee is consumed through the whipped cream only.
