How long does Caffeine last in the Body

caffeine side-effects on metabolism and health

Caffeine enters your body in a simple way, it hits you in the first sip itself!

While you have your Coffee, it first passes through the mouth, throat and then finally ends into your stomach.

It’s similar to a drug which works against sleep. They spread the quality of ‘attention‘ in the person who consumes it. This is why many of the students and working people prefer drinking a cup of coffee, to stay awake during the night.

Caffeine Metabolism and their Effects!

It takes about 45 minutes in total for the caffeine to completely absorb in the body membranes.

Also, these days many food products use Caffeine, so it’s necessary that you know how much time it actually stays in your body. Yes, 45 minutes is for the absorption, and their half life-time is around 4 to 6 hours. This means if you consume 40mg of the caffeine, by the passage of 5 hours your body will still have 20mg of the caffeine left to be used.

The metabolic rates depend on various factors like the

  • Person’s Medical Background, and
  • Also, on how they React to certain Drugs.
  • Even the Age of the Person affects the overall metabolism

There are different sensitivity levels which also help in deciding the metabolism speed. Sensitivities are nothing but the vulnerability types. You can consider them like Low, Normal, and High.

The person with Normal sensitivity will react and respond to the Caffeine in the standard way.

Some people get affected by a small amount of caffeine, and still feel the right stimulation. They fall into the LOW category.

Whereas there are people who consume a lot of Caffeine and still have no stimulation. They will be too high in caffeine, and so they fall into the HIGH category.

Hard to believe, but it’s true.

How to Overcome the Sleep Issues?

The first step would be to control your Caffeine intake.

  • Try reducing the consumption and understand the suitable limit for your body.
  • Then you can choose for some relaxation methods like yoga, and meditation which will help you keep calm and reduce the anxiety.
