Keurig Troubleshooting: Problems & its Easy Fix

Contents

Even if you have got Keurig or the Keurig 2.0 system, the issues remain the same. Getting coffee grounds in your coffee, the machine won’t turn on, coffee is not warm rightly, brewing is not proper, unit shutting down on its own, and many others!

Some of the Keurig issues faced by the users are listed below, and we will provide the best solutions to handle different issues.

Brewing Process in my Keurig is not proper. What should I do?

  • This is the one task for which Keurig is bought, and that is Brewing! If this is not done rightly, then it should be dealt as soon as possible. The reason behind this could be the buildup present in the line of the machine or due to some problem related to the setting of the machine components.
  • Now, if you are sure that the system has got buildups formed, especially the calcium buildup, then we have got one tip. Make a mixture of water and vinegar, and keep the machine immersed in this for some time. Then wash off the unit completely, and try running the Keurig again.

I am getting one Error Message saying ‘Add More Water’. What shall I do?

  • The first step that is to be taken for this problem is to fill the reservoir completely with water. And then try running the unit. If this solves the problem, great! But if the error message is displayed, try out the next tip.
  • Pull out the reservoir carefully from the coffee maker system, and clean it properly. Make use of soapy water, and start the cleaning process. After this, pat-dry the reservoir using a soft cloth. Now, fill the tank back with complete water. Try running the system, and if the error message is showing up again, it is recommended to get in touch with the customer care.

I am getting less amount of Coffee after the brewing process, Any solution?

  • This happens mostly when there is clogging problem in the system. So you have to deal with the clogging, and this way you will enjoy better results with the coffee maker.
  • Along with the clogging, the unit may have got debris formations. The reason behind such condition is the weak water-lines present nowadays. Such water lines easily get clogged. Well, the solution is easy.
  • You have to simply run the system with water in it, without the presence of K-cups. You may also take the needle out, and clean out the debris and dirt present on it. After performing all these steps, you must get the proper amount of coffee after brewing.

My Keurig keeps on pumping water all throughout the coffee processing, and it does not stop. What to do?

  • Here the problem is that the coffee maker pumps water continuously even when the water is not needed. And this means that the user has to purposely shut down the unit, for stopping the water flow.
  • For solving this problem, first you have to unplug the machine, and then take out the water reservoir gently from the system. Now you have to turn the system upside down, and this may sound crazy. But on a serious note, you have to perform this step.
  • Keeping the coffee maker in the upside down position, you have to tap the bottom space of the machine. You can also try out the descaling technique for this system since this one is also effective for solving the mentioned problem.

The system is turning on and off on its own, how to solve this problem?

  • If your Keurig is turn on and off without your consent, then there are high chances that you have set some inbuilt timer for the unit.
  • There is one option of Auto Off, so check if this setting is turned on or not. If this option is lit up, then try to disable it by turning the setting off. Most of the unit come with this feature, where it shuts down after some 90 seconds.
  • Another reason could be related to the misplaced reservoir magnet within the unit. So do the necessary changes, and place it rightly. Try running the unit, if still the issue is not solved, then the final way is to contact the service center.

Make sure that you don’t rush the processing!

  • This is related to the coffee making procedure. Some users perform all the steps speedily and wish to get the best results out of the Keurig unit. So, make sure that you provide the right amount of time for the processing.
  • Also, it is applicable for those who are trying out the troubleshooting tips. There is one concept called, warm up time, and if this is not provided rightly to the Keurig, then you won’t get to enjoy your coffee!

There is one blue light blinking in the water reservoir section, what is it? How to stop this blinking?

  • The blue light indicates that right amount of water is not provided for the coffee making process. When you are dealing with a Keurig system, it requires a good quantity of water for the working. So when this water is not provided, the blinking of the light begins.
  • So to solve this, you just have to pour some more water into the reservoir and get the blinking stopped.

I am getting less coffee brewed, and also the dripping rate is low. What will be the possible reason?

  • The issue will be related to the accumulation of coffee grounds near the exit needle. You will get to notice this while you are brewing a K-cup. A time would come when no coffee comes out from the cup because of the coffee grounds blockage.
  • To solve this condition, take out the K-cup cautiously, and then rinse it using warm water. This has to be performed from both the direction, and that is from the top to bottom as well as from the bottom to top. Most of the blockage issues are solved using this method.
  • If the problem still persists, then try using compressed air in a similar way.

Recently I have felt that there is some difference in the taste of the Keurig coffee. How to get this corrected?

  • This may occur because of the scale buildups formed within the Keurig machine. So you need to get the cleaning done as a solution.
  • Also to note here is that this is mainly concerned with the user maintenance, and it has less to do with the Keurig system. For cleaning purpose, you can get one descaler product which helps you with cleaning.

My system shuts off on its own, while I am brewing my coffee. What should I do?

  • For this, you got to take out the water reservoir from the machine. And then reinstall this reservoir back quickly. This is performed to get the magnet connections right, which may have been affected due to the system movements.

So, these were some of the major Keurig issues reported by the consumers. We tried our best to cover all the common ones here, and hope the troubleshooting guide proved to be helpful to you in getting the system back as it was before.

Did you change the filter pod? Or possibly forget to remove the pod while running vinegar through?

My keurig kept pouring out water, so I followed your instructions on removing water reservoir and turning my brewer up side down for a few minutes while tapping the bottom of it several times and it worked like a charm, Thanks so much, having my cup of coffee now as I am writing this

Have had Keurig since they first came out. Recently replaced with a new out of the box Keurig so its not a scaling problem. Continuously empties the reservoir. Sounds like you guys have to fire an engineer or two since it’s obviously a design problem and the best you can come up with for a solution is beat and shake. Have to do it at least three times a week since placing unit in operation. This morning it emptied a full reservoir of water on my wood floor before I heard it going crazy. I’m going to throw this piece of junk away and get a Bunn.

    Should there be a Kobe mini pump kpn27w with a silver barrel numbered 030400010158 WRF-370C-11650. 78 14s 21047CN ?
My coffee machine started making a very loud noise while heating and brewing, today it was draining all the water without turning it on? I’m also looking for a remote transmitter because it stopped while 1/3 of the reservoir was left then started draining again on its own? All that was on was the on button but I never hit the brew button. Thank you

My Keurig is plugged in but has no power. I unplugged and replugged and nothing happens. It is a few years old. Do they just stop working without any previous problems and do I need a new one.

I have had 3 brand new K-Elites. 2 were replacements sent by Keurig because the original and the one which replaced had the same problem. As soon as I turn on the unit, it starts pumping out cold water and won’t stop until I turn turn it off. Now the second replacement unit is doing the same thing. That’s 3 in a row! The upside down thing didn’t help. It’s not a descaling issue. These are brand new units. I got one cup of coffee from each unit before they started doing this. Anyone else have this experience?

My keyring k-latte machine has all the lights on solid. It won’t brew a cup of coffee. I’ve taken the water reservoir off, drained it and refilled it and put it back on. Still when I plug it back in, all the lights stay on and it won’t make a cup of coffee. What do I need to do?

perform most of the troubleshooting. the pot is a little over a month old. The ten once setting gives a little over 8 ounces. Cleaned both needles, removed and reseated the tank. The unit will sometimes give the right amount.

WE have a K-Cafe-K84 and it is shutting off as it starts the coffee brewing. I have used suggestions for cleaning. When restarting the brewing process all works okay until it comes on to brew coffee. Just shuts off!

My Keurig 2.0 keeps asking for more water even though the tank has plenty. I just unplug it and count to ten like you sometimes have to do your router. Plug it back in and it’s fine
