First things first, you shall start with washing and cleaning the coffee pour over kit. Although you may have the cleaned Chemex from the last brew at least rinsing it is necessary. Because rinsing will flush out any contaminant present on the Chemex maker.

Additionally, it will get you ready for making the perfect coffee. Make sure you rinse the apparatus if you are using already the washed one.

2. Let the Coffee Pour Over Kit Dry

In addition to the above section, you will have to let the water off from the Chemex for the best coffee taste. Also, you can get rid of the left water totally using a piece of cloth.

3. Put the Paper Filter in Its Place

Now, you need to take the paper filter and fold it perfectly making the conical shape. Place it inside of the pourover cone and make sure the lower folded end faces the coffee pouring spout. You can go for the metal pour over filter eradicate the filter paper hassle.

4. Dampen the Coffee Funnel

Thereafter, dampen the filter using hot water so that filter does not absorb the coffee or the coffee-water mixture. Dampening the filter will not only keep prevent the liquid from getting absorbed but also prevent from getting displaced. The wet filter will stick to the pour over dripper.

5. Add Coffee Grounds

You will need the coarse coffee grounds i.e. slightly coarser than the espresso grind. Having said that, you can either go for the pre-ground coffee or use a portable coffee bean grinder at home. All you have to do is maintain the coffee grind profile to use it for brewing the pour-over style. Remember, you will have to distribute the coffee perfectly making a flat surface at its top.

6. Pour Water for Pre-Infusion/Bloom

Patience is required for pouring the water in the Chemex. You shall take the hot water in a kettle and pour it gently on the coffee grounds in circles. You need to pour the water just enough to dampen the coffee grounds. Firstly, pour the water in the center then followed by making small circles and lastly bigger circles.

Make sure you do not pour the water on the side walls of the filter. Because it will channel the water directly into the serving chamber without sufficient blooming. Lastly, leave the mixture for 30 to 45 seconds for blooming.

7. Pour the Water

After blooming, you should pour water sufficient for making the coffee. Make sure you use 12.5 ounces of water for 15 grams of coffee grounds. However, you can manipulate the ratio according to your preference.

8. Let It Drip for 5 to 10 Minutes

The paper filter of the coffee will hold the liquid for as much as 5 to 10 minutes depending upon the volume of coffee you are making. It is a necessary process for brewing the coffee perfectly. In fact, you can observe the pouring coffee in the serving chamber slowly being the slow drip coffee.

9. Remove the Filter

Finally, you can remove the filter when if the dripping stops or at least slows substantially. Fold the filter keeping the extracted coffee grounds inside and dump it saving the coffee drops from falling on your kitchen floor.
